Alberton

Alberton was established in the 1890’s as part of the route to the goldfields. It is one of the smallest towns in the Gippsland Region, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in history and community spirit.

The Alberton Primary School was given the number one state school in Victoria back in the 1960’s when the process of numbering Victorian government schools began.

The historic cemetery is maintained by the local community who have created little pathways weaving through well maintained garden areas. Visitors can wander through and view the graves of the many first settlers and whalers who are buried there.

What Alberton has to offer;

  • Walk past the Alberton Primary School designated the number one Primary School in Victoria.
  • Meander through the historic cemetery
  • Experience great food and hospitality at the historic Victoria Hotel.
