Dargo

Dargo township is located in the foothills of the Dargo High Plains. The area is a great location for outdoor adventure activities including 4WD touring, rafting, fishing and canoeing.

The area is also an excellent destination for horse riding, bush walking and hiking. Panning for gold still remains a popular activity but you can also visit the gold panning museum for an up close look at a gold nugget.

Dargo is known for its century old walnut groves that line the valley floor and is also an entry point for the Alpine National Park, Avon Wilderness Park and Mitchell River National Park.

What Dargo has to offer:

  • Travel to the Grant, Talbotville and Crooked River goldfields nearby, take a gold mining tour, visit the museum and try your luck at panning for gold.
  • Drop into the 100 year old Dargo Hotel, for some good pub grub and if you need a place to stay there is some old bunk houses at the back of the hotel.
  • Grab some fresh, locally grown walnuts for your drive home.
